Model UN Background

The origin of Model United Nations (MUN) dates back to the 20s with the establishment of the League of Nations, followed by its transformation to United Nations in 1945. MUN has been a student-oriented activity which simulates the UN General Assembly. About 400 MUN conferences are held worldwide every year, in which 200,000 high school and college students have taken part in. The sizes of the conferences vary, as they can be held locally, at classrooms or internationally, at the UN Headquarter. Teams of participants will become country members of the UN. Each MUN delegate acts as the country’s ambassador to the UN, and discusses world issues like human rights, terrorism and sustainable   development. Students will learn to be leaders in MUN, which has been a training ground for leaders of different fields. MUN is also a valuable occasion to meet friends all over the world.
